Lough Allen is a large, deep lake and is one of Ireland\'s leading Pike waters. Fishing is best by trolling, and Pike can be located in the bays when they can be fished from the bank in the early months. Brown trout can be caught here and Bream can be found in the shallow end of the lake and are usually caught near the Drumkerrin road. The river Shannon from the lake to 300m under the sluice gates is good for Bream and Roach.

The Allen is 8 miles long by 3 miles wide, with the water level controlled by the sluice gates. Good stocks of Brown trout can be caught here averaging about 1 lb, with the best of them being caught in April, August and September. Boat fishing can be done in this lake.

Season:

Trout season is between February 01st- September 30th.

Fly and spin.
