The river Suck is found upstream of Ballymoe where there is a lot of fast flowing water.

Catch:Bream, Rudd, Perch, Pike & Roach.

In the bog at Derrycahill you can catch fish such as Bream, Rudd, Perch and Pike. The river below Ballinasloe contains good quality Bream, but it is at Culliagh where you can catch Bream, Rudd, Perch and some Roach. At this stretch you can find soft margins in places with very clean banks. This area is liable to flooding.

All year around.

All legal methods. No live bait with pike fishing.

This is a slow river that contains good catches of Bream. Near the Shannon junction good fishing is done for catches of Bream, Rudd, Perch and Pike with some Eel and Roach also being taken

The Suck is a tributary of the river Shannon draining large areas in Galway and Roscommon. At Ballymoe Salmon fishing is done downriver with the odd Trout caught. Small runs of Grilse and Spring salmon are caught from mid June. There is a 7 mile stretch where fishing is for Brown trout between Laragh Bridge to Castlerea and the fish average between 0.5 lbs to 0.75 lbs.

Season:

Salmon and Brown trout fishing is between March 1st - September 30th.

Methods:

Fly or spinning.
