The River Foyle extends from Culmore Point at the top of the estuary to the confluence of the Finn and Mourne upstream of the bridge at Lifford.

Fishing is best during dry periods and when the fishing are not running straight up stream. The best fishing can be done at the bridge in Strabane. In a recent 6 week season (4 days a week) over 80, 000 salmon were netted on this river.

1st March - 12th October

Usually fly fishing and spinning.

Cost: Tickets can be bought in the fishing tackle shop in Strabane.

Angling is confined to a relatively short stretch from Lifford Bridge downstream. Being tidal, angling is confined to periods of low flows between tides.

1 March - 15 September

Methods:

Fly, spinning and worm. No floats.
