River Little Brosna

The Little Brosna and its tributaries rises near Roscrea and joins the river Shannon at Meelick.

Brown trout & Salmon are caught here in the summer especially in low reaches. The trout average .5 lbs, with a 9 inch size limit and a six trout bag limit. The most productive of the Salmon fishing is downriver of Riverstown. Artificial fly fishing is only permitted from Milltown Bridge to Monastery Bridge, from Brosna Bridge to Sharavogue Bridge and from Purcell\'s Drain to Riverstown. Upstream of Milltown Bridge no trout fishing is allowed. At Birr the trout stocks are few, but good runs at Croneen can be caught from the bridges in mid June.

Salmon and Brown trout fishing is between March 1st - September 30th.
