Catch:Salmon & Sea Trout.

This river has some of the fastest growing Brown trout in Ireland, found in the river near Lucan. Spring Salmon are caught from early January, and Grilse run from June. Most of the spring fish are caught at Islandbridge in Dublin. Griles are taken mainly near Leixlip. The river also gets a small run of Sea trout in July at Islandbridge. Brown trout are caught from Islandbridge upstream, with the best of them being taken near Leixlip. The average weight at Clane is 10 ozs.

Season:

Salmon and Sea trout are caught between January 01st -September 30th, while Brown trout is from March 01st -September 30th.

Fly and spin.

Cost: Fishing is free at the Memorial Park at Islandbridge and on the bank upstream of Leixlip Bridge to the Rye water confluence. Other areas has memberships which can be obtained at Rory's Fishing Tackle, 17a St. Lawerence's Road in Dublin 20.
