The river Leannan is found in north Donegal and flows through Lough Garton and Lough Fern until it enters the sea at Lough Swilly.

This river used to be famous for its spring fishing in February and March, but the fishing is not as good, as it used to be. Spring fishing has however shown improvement in the last 2-3 years. The grilse come into the river in June and July is the best month for fishing.

Fly and spoon, worm in high waters.

Cost: Fishing is regarded as free except downstream at Drumonahan bridge Rathmelton where fishing is not allowed
