Horse Island is found about 1 mile south-west of Castletownshend, near Battery Point.

Description:
Catch:Dogfish, Bull Huss, Coalfish, Conger, Pollack, Mackerel & Ray.

Rock fishing here is in a deep gully between the mainland and the island itself. Dogfish, Bull Huss, Coalfish, Conger, Pollack and good Mackerel are taken from the water. High tide is the most effective time to catch them. On the left of the channel Ray are taken when the water is low.

Season:

All year around, although the best time of year is between May to September.

Methods:

Spinning and bottom fishing with Mackerel strips.

Cost: No cost for off-shore fishing. Boat charter varies between 200 Euro - 300 Euro per boat, suitable for 4-8 people.
