Lough Derravaragh

Location:

Derravaragh Lake, (Westmeath) lies 8 miles north of Mullingar town, with access to it at Multyfarnham or at Collure off the Castlepollard to Mullingar road.

Description:
Catch:Brown Trout, Roach & Pike.

This is a big and deep water which holds stocks of Brown trout, Roach and good quality Pike. Pike are mostly taken from a boat, but is also fishable from the shore.

Season:

All year around.

Methods:

All legal methods. No live bait with Pike.

Cost: Coarse fishing is free.

Stocks have declined over the years, although it contains large Brown tout usually by trolling. The Trout are limited to 12 inches in size.

Season:

Trout fishing is between March 01st -October 12th.

Methods:

Fly or spinning.

Cost: Permits from the fisheries board and boat hire can be obtained from Mr Tom Newman, Multyfarnham.
