Sprucebank was purchased by a family named Smyth in 1734. The last of the family lived here until 1991 - a span of 257 years. Over the years the property was divided among the family members and we came into possession of part on 31.1.1967 and more than 20 years later although the last surviving members - a brother and sister still inhabited the home. Robert died on 24.12.90, a week before his 94th birthday. Ada his sister survived him by a matter of weeks 3.3.1991, she was 85. |
