Gurnard

Identification Methods
Distinctive little fish with bright red colouration and two dorsal fins. The second dorsal fin and the anal fins are almost symmetrical.. The first dorsal fin has 8-10 membrane bound spines with the first one distinctively shorter than the subsequent ones. It is rare (if ever) that this fish has been caught from the shore. Lugworm, ragworm or mackerel strips will work. Although they are a lovely eating fish please be kind and release this beautiful little fish once caught.
